Being Among Lovers of Jesus

I was born into a Buddhist family, but received the Lord Jesus as my Savior at age 11. Since then I have grown up meeting with the local church. What I enjoy the most here is that I am always with other believers who love the Lord and who are pursuing Him and His heart's desire.

I recall a young people's conference I attended at the end of high school. A brother spoke on the topic of consecration, using 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. That night, for the first time, I saw that the Lord had “bought” me with His blood shed on the cross, so that I am no longer my own--I belong to Him. How could I withhold my consecration, my consent to let Him carry out His desire in me? Along with many other young people, I consecrated my life and myself afresh to the Lord.

A few months after this experience I had pretty much forgotten all about it. The Lord sovereignly arranged for a young sister from a local church in the United States to send me a song tape also on the topic of consecration. Through listening to the hymns on the tape, the Lord spoke to me and reminded me of my consecration. With tears, I repented to Him for neglecting Him in my life.

Throughout my years in the local church there have been many such experiences. Whenever I have been in spiritual “valleys”, other believers in the church have taken me into their homes, cherished me, shepherded me, and encouraged me to go on, to keep running the Christian race until we meet the Lord. I thank the Lord for His mercy in placing me in the local church, where I can pursue Him and His heart's desire with those who love Him, “who call on Him out of a pure heart” (2 Timothy 2:22).
